FREE Tan-Ku Poetry Workshop!
July 30 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Join poets Casey Winston and Michael Czarnecki for a Tan-Ku poetry workshop focused on Clean Energy and the Environment.
Tan-Ku is a new poetic form written by two people, combining haiku and tanka, 3 and 5 line poems, respectively. Tan-Ku was originated by Mariko Kitakubo (Tokyo), and Deborah P Kolodji (California).
One poet writes the first poem then another poet replies/responds with a second poem. Together they make up the Tan-Ku. Either poem could be the first one, and when read together they form a collaborative poem.
Whether you are a seasoned poet or a new writer, Tan-Ku is an easy form to learn and a fun form to master.
Participants will receive a free chapbook consisting of Tan-Ku written at the workshops. They will also be invited to share their poems at a public reading at the Steele Memorial Library, Elmira on September 24 at 6:00 pm.
Made possible by a grant from Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Smart Energy Choices program administered locally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.
